Indications
Molcef is recommended for patients six months and older who are suffering from bacterial infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is important to note that Molcef should only be used to treat infections that are confirmed or highly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria. When selecting or adjusting antimicrobial therapy, culture and susceptibility information should be considered, if available. If such information is not available, local epidemiology and susceptibility patterns may aid in selecting empiric therapy.
Molcef is indicated for the treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible isolates of designated bacteria:
- Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections caused by Escherichia coli and Proteus mirabilis.
- Otitis Media caused by Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, and Streptococcus pyogenes.
- Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes.
- Acute Exacerbations of Chronic Bronchitis caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenza.
Side Effects
