Description

Pharmacological Properties of Thiocolchicoside

During preclinical studies, it was discovered that Thiocolchicoside has a selective affinity for gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors and glycine receptors. These properties are responsible for its action in rheumatological and traumatic spasms, as well as in central origin spasms. Thiocolchicoside does not have a similar action to curare, and it does not cause paralysis of the motor plate or respiratory problems. Additionally, Thiocolchicoside has no effect on the cardiovascular system.

Indications

Thiocolchicoside is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of muscular disorders, rheumatological, traumatic, and neurological disorders associated with spasticity and muscle contracture. Some examples of such conditions include Torticollis, back pain, degenerative diseases of the vertebrae, such as lumbalgia, static pathology of the vertebrae, traumatic and neurological disorders associated with spasticity, and during rehabilitation.

Contraindications

Thiocolchicoside is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to it or colchicines, with muscular hypotonia and flaccid paralysis (flaccid).

Warnings and Precautions

If diarrhea occurs, the dose should be reduced. Care should be taken in patients with renal insufficiency. If necessary, capsules can be taken simultaneously with a stomach-protecting drug (gastroprotective). Additionally, the product contains lactose monohydrate, so it should not be used in persons with congenital galactosemia, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, lactase deficiency, and sucrase-isomaltase.

Side Effects

As with any medication, there are potential side effects to be aware of. Some common side effects of Muscoflex Capsule 4 Mg include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, heartburn, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. Rarely, side effects such as skin rash, swelling, allergic and pseudo-allergic reactions (allergic vasculitis), gastralgia, hypotension, irritability, and drowsiness (with intramuscular administration) may occur.

If you experience any side effects that bother you or do not go away with time, you should let your doctor know. Your doctor may help you with ways to reduce or prevent the side effects.

Conclusion

Muscoflex Capsule 4 Mg is a muscle relaxant medication containing Thiocolchicoside, a semi-synthetic derivative of the natural glycoside colchicoside. Thiocolchicoside has a selective affinity for gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors and glycine receptors, which is responsible for its muscle relaxant effect on skeletal muscles.

It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of muscular disorders, rheumatological, traumatic, and neurological disorders associated with spasticity and muscle contracture. As with any medication, there are potential side effects to be aware

Cyberchondria

The truth is that when we’re sick, or worried about getting sick, the internet won’t help.

According to Wikipedia, cyberchondria is a mental disorder consisting in the desire to independently make a diagnosis based on the symptoms of diseases described on Internet sites.

Why you can't look for symptoms on the Internet

If diagnoses could be made simply from a textbook or an article on a website, we would all be doctors and treat ourselves. Nothing can replace the experience and knowledge of specially trained people. As in any field, in medicine there are unscrupulous specialists, differences of opinion, inaccurate diagnoses and incorrect test results.
