  1. Zeinab Elmahdi

    Hi,
I would like to know how can I get Tisinon for my cousin, he is 44yrs and suffering Alkaptunuria more than 10 yrs ago.
    I am from Khartoum, Sudan.

      Hello Zeinab, this is WikiKenko.

Alkaptonuria (AKU) is a rare congenital disorder caused by a deficiency of the enzyme homogentisate-1,2,-dioxygenase. The long-term consequences of AKU are joint problems, cardiac valve abnormalities and renal problems. Nitisinone has been used to suppress an upstream enzyme activity and has demonstrated beneficial effects in AKU patients with established complications. Lower doses of nitisinone in the range of 0.2-2 mg daily can already reduce urinary homogentisic acid (uHGA) excretion by > 90%, which may prevent AKU-related complications earlier in the course of the disease while limiting the possibility of side-effects related to the increase of plasma tyrosine levels caused by nitisinone.

I would recommend consulting a doctor or a medical professional for more information on how to obtain Tisinon for your cousin. I’m sorry, but we couldn’t find any specific information about the availability of Nitisinone in Sudan. I would recommend consulting a doctor or a medical professional in Sudan for more information on how to obtain Nitisinone for your cousin.

Tisinon Capsule 5 Mg contains the active ingredient Nitisinone and is used for the treatment of adult and pediatric patients with hereditary tyrosinemia type (HT-1) in combination with dietary restriction of tyrosine and phenylalanine. Common side effects of Nitisinone may include vision changes, increased sensitivity of your eyes to light, eye pain, red or puffy eyes, nosebleeds, rash or itching, dry or peeling skin, or thinning hair. Some serious side effects may also occur while taking Nitisinone. It is important to consult a doctor or a medical professional for more information on the potential side effects of Nitisinone.

Cyberchondria

The truth is that when we’re sick, or worried about getting sick, the internet won’t help.

According to Wikipedia, cyberchondria is a mental disorder consisting in the desire to independently make a diagnosis based on the symptoms of diseases described on Internet sites.

Why you can't look for symptoms on the Internet

If diagnoses could be made simply from a textbook or an article on a website, we would all be doctors and treat ourselves. Nothing can replace the experience and knowledge of specially trained people. As in any field, in medicine there are unscrupulous specialists, differences of opinion, inaccurate diagnoses and incorrect test results.
